We are not espousing a particular religious belief through these teachings. We are exposing the student to what we know in our professional and personal experience about these practices that redress, in our opinion, the negative consequences of modernity and advanced technological culture. This includes our do-all and end-all, quick fix to all of our psycho-emotional needs and problems. Meditative practice slows us down, condenses time, while increasing our availability to what we perceive as the present.
The Lexicon of Alchemy defines meditation as follows: “the internal talk of one person with another who is invisible, as in the invocation of the deity, or communion with one’s self, or with one’s good angel”. A creative dialogue in which things can pass from unconscious potential to conscious actuality. By learning to focus, which is at the root of meditation, the student can bring more influence to whatever he is focusing on, whether it is a task, symptoms, objects, breathing, or nothing. Meditation brings together the energies and generative forces of the masculine principles (yang) and feminine principles (yin) and through focusing, the practitioner learns to harness these forces in what yoga refers to as unity and alchemy refers to transformation.
Meditation promotes physical health and well being. Simple breathing exercises over time have been shown to effect breath and heart rates, blood pressure, anxieties and stress levels, emotional reactions and tensions. It helps concentration and mental acuities. Meditative practices can be taught to those with no previous experience who want to begin simple focusing methods and body/mind relaxation. We offer meditative practices to more advanced students who want to add more depth to their practice through awareness of alchemical process within. These meditative practices can be a valuable adjunct to your medical and psychological protocols in consultation with your physicians and therapists.
